Our mission is to provide clear, neutral, and easy to understand information about data centers in Oregon so the public can learn how they connect to local resources, communities, and infrastructure.

What is a Data Center?

A data center is a large building that holds computers, storage systems, and networking equipment. These computers store and process digital information — including photos, videos, emails, websites, and AI tasks.

You can think of it as a physical home for the internet.

How do they work?
Data centers need three main things to run:

Servers run constantly — they don't turn off. A single data center can use as much electricity as thousands of homes.
